We have been very busy so far this term! Our first topic was ‘Global Gourmet’ and we did lots of research on countries around the world, the carbon footprint of different foods, as well as visiting Joe’s Ice Cream and Verdi’s to get a flavour of café culture! We set up our own café for an afternoon called ‘Café Monkey’ and sold a variety of food and drinks which we had made to our parents, family and friends. We managed to make over £30 in profit!
This half term our topic is ‘Children Of The Revolution’ and we are enjoying finding out about the Victorian period. We have make books on Book Creator about aspects of Victorian lives and we have found out about famous people from the time including Charles Dickens, Florence Nightingale, Lord Shaftsbury, Dr Barnardo and Queen Victoria herself. We are visiting the National Waterfront Museum to take part in Victorian workshops which should be great! Towards the end of our topic, we will be finding out about a Victorian Christmas and studying ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens. After all that hard work, we will be ready for our Christmas holiday!
